It’s not in great shape, between the great slug & snail invasion of 2024, the squirrels, the foxes, the gales and the torrential rain that flooded the garden three times in two days, but it’s alive! And so am I!
The big problem with the massive amount of rain we’ve had this year is that the shrubs and weeds have run wild, and everything else has drowned, and there’s not been enough light to trigger proper fruit production or ripen what’s emerged. So I’m already planning for next year, and my autumn will be spent digging stuff up, cutting stuff back and shredding a small forest’s worth of material to put back into the garden as mulch.
Interestingly, I have shown an absolute inability to grow vegetables. The raised bed and the big pots were destroyed by the above encroachments, despite extensive countermeasures, and I need a new plan. (The tomato plants survived but haven’t gotten enough light or heat to do anything.)
OPERATIONS: Back into scripting. I’m late on a couple of things. Though I did read on a feed today that San Diego Comic-Con is apparently coming up soon, so possibly no-one will notice. Meanwhile, I’m thinking about prose again, particularly fragmentary prose. That’s been on my mind for the last eighteen months or so, and I haven’t found solutions I love yet, but I want to take advantage of the weblog form for something new. I’ve been notebooking on it at night, between outline and development writings, and I hope I will arrive (at something) soon.
