I slept til 1030am, cleared email, put THE WERCKMEISTER HARMONIES up on the big screen, listened to new CDs, bought a couple more, had two cocktails and some kind of chocolate/roasted-hazelnut liqueur at dinner, wrote the solicitation for BATMAN’S GRAVE #6, looked over some of the notes on HEAVEN’S FOREST and put them away until the weekend, and soon I’m going to go to bed and read some more of the manuscript Charlie Stross emailed me the other day, which is very good.

Screener season has officially begun. This is when WGA members get sent DVDs for the forthcoming awards cycle, which I have no idea how to vote in. Most of them won’t play on my DVD drive. It’s like receiving a long stream of custom coasters.

But they do send script books, too, and those are marvellous.

I am silently screening a beautifully bleak-looking old Ukrainian film called THE STONE CROSS with PAGAN OCEANS by Tsone playing over the top – I was going to cull and refix the Twitter lists I run on Tweetdeck on the big screen for news and stuff, but fuck it.

Am now into the writer-nerdery of picking the notebooks for a possible consulting gig. Maybe I should have gone full Midori Traveller like Julian Simpson.

A little over three quarters of the way to a first draft of PROJECT KATRA 101. Totally failed to get a note down here four times today, Most of my body is knots right now. Haven’t seen anyone in, um, a few days.

Not going to see another human for about five days, so I’m settling in to push through two big jobs, change my diet a bit and hopefully finish cleaning out the back room or just set fire to it.

Reading James Sallis on one device and Cormac McCarthy on another because I love to be reminded of how bad and useless I am.

Watching an Amazon tracker inch closer to my house while my inbox hangs at 18 and I give a listen to TIMECUTS by Luis Miehlich. Odds of blowing off work at 9pm, opening a bottle and buying CDs off the internet: pretty high to be honest
