Weatherchicken 1 Is Not Impressed With Your Shit

It would have had a weather stamp on it, but Weathershot Pro, a paid app, has been turned off in favour of their new subscription-fee app. It was supposed to go “unsupported,” but it now crashes on opening – which I suspect means they’ve simply turned it off. I am not impressed with their shit either.

LE TESTAMENT D’ORPHEE

(Re-)Building my Jean Cocteau library. Necessary things. I’m gonna need more space in here.

Minute steak, 3-egg scramble with chipotle flakes, smoked chili, smoked garlic & smoked paprika, half a Romano pepper and a handful of dried mushrooms. Also quite a lot of espresso so far, because the overnight email was large. Yes, you have to deal with my reset bullshit today.

I have a BATMAN’S GRAVE script in front of me that’s giving me shit, so I’m at the desk all day until it’s dead. I also have a blu-ray that according to Amazon is seven stops away!

Also according to my watch I ran about a mile on a rebounder and now i can’t feel my legs

CASTLEVANIA Season 3 Cast Announcement

Richard Armitage, Alejandra Reynoso, James Callis, Ade M’Cormack, Theo James and Jaime Murray are back.

They are joined by Yasmine Al-Massri, Ivana Milicevic, Jessica Brown Findlay, Bill Nighy, Navid Negahban, Toru Uchikado, Rila Fukushima, Jason Isaacs, Lance Reddick and Barbara Steele.

Now that is a cast. Them are some serious fucking actors right there. I was amazed that any of my actors even took the goddamn job, and remain amazed by them as people and artists.

I got to write for and work directly with all these people, and, let me tell you, it was a learning experience and a fucking joy. Absolutely wonderful humans.

Drying mushrooms. Starting a ten-day diet reset, which mostly involves cutting bad habits like eating delicious crap. Drying these off and tossing with a little thyme salt (which I made last year) and smoked salt (which I didn’t make and should learn to) will help manage the craving for delicious evil crisps. Remember, in my country, crisp technology is highly evolved. It’s not like your fucking Ruffles or whatever. This is the seat of civilisation we are talking about here.

That said, I also note that this half of Southend is cut off from London by landslips on the train line, so we could be full Mad Max by the weekend.

Inbox at a girthy 21 because I haven’t even attempted to clear it yet. I had studio notes and overnight confirmation of a CASTLEVANIA social media drop at 5pm UK time, so it’s been reading and messaging so far today, and talking to a friend about a project that doesn’t have a codename yet because it is purely notional at this time. Which reminds me, I need to start the newsletter. And also get ahold of the new functions on the WordPress theme the site is now using. Okay. More water. Here we go.

I once again installed Typology as the site theme, some time after WordPress Special Circumstances helped me get the place on solid ground. Once again, Typology has weird kinks in it that I can’t iron out — apparently if I don’t somehow turn the first page into a static webpage instead of running latest posts, I can’t get rid of the stupid red “Read Later” button, and it doesn’t load images past the first page unless you click into a post and click back out. Why did a basic scrolling blog become so fucking hard to implement?

(Edited to add, I just bought a copy of Alia and stuck it on here instead. Not quite as pretty or fun, but it seems to work well and I finally have a working search box again!)

COALESCENCE OF FORM, Visionary Hours

Visionary Hours is a project of Hayden Berry, a musician from Hebden Bridge, UK that combines the sound of strings, guitar, voice, flute and clarinet, to create slowly-evolving modern classical pieces, full of space and gently revealed micro melodies.

Hypnotic. Magnificent.

Spotted at the Hope & Ruin on Sunday.

I’ve started keeping a written log of what I do at the desk all day, and today’s page is already half-full. Inbox 13 after two hours’ grinding, the boards are marked up and I had a small breakthrough on something I’m developing for a friend — one of those small details that appear completely unnecessary internal logic / dressing until you get it and you realise it speaks to the whole thing. And to get it, I had to go against one of my long-standing rules, which is: “hyperspace” is magic handwavium bullshit. Sometimes you have to give up old thinking to get at the new idea, right?

I want to get some notes down later about “blogs,” which also goes against the long-standing rule of us old internet dinosaurs — “blogging about blogging.” But I need to get some thinking out in front of me where I can see it properly and work with it.

Well, this was a surprise. A promo CD from Clay Pipe Music! Doesn’t seem to be online anywhere yet — maybe I’m not even supposed to be posting this! But thank you so much for sending it to me. It’s going into the machine as soon as I’m done typing this.

It’s pushing noon – have already processed some show design material and the new social media assets from our team at Netflix, been insulted by Molly Crabapple, and wrestled the inbox down to 15. I have a phone conference later, but now I must descend into a Batman script and lock down the back end.
