Following the same path as “Your Soft Absence”, “Softer Than Before” weaves sine waves and wind instruments into patterns and variations of symmetry, repetition and chance.
The two compositions are haunted by a sense of absence, cloaked in a looming eeriness that stems from childlike wonder and a longing for the unknown.
Perhaps just a little too unsettled/unsettling to be night music, but it wraps around you with its questions.
