Today I am declaring information bankruptcy and expiring everything in my RSS reader. Of course, even having an RSS reader is probably a fringe activity these days. But I got busy and distracted and let mine go for a little while, and suddenly there are 3000 unread articles. It’d be worse if you could plug Instagram into RSS, and if some other sites had RSS feeds at all. Also, I have a bad habit of sending some Substack newsletters to the RSS reader rather than my inbox. I shouldn’t do that with newsletters, because they don’t count as a subscription and so the newsletter operator has no idea they’re being read.
Also deleting the 1400 emails in my Bandcamp tab in my email. I have to automatically flow them there so they don’t fill up the inbox – every time you buy something from an artist or label on Bandcamp, they send you an email whenever they release something new, and you also get an email every time someone buys something directly from your collection page. And I’ve bought something like 1500 pieces from Bandcamp over the years.
