Took yesterday off, was taken out for a long and very good lunch, the peak for me being the second cocktail, named a Japanese Smoke Father: a Godfather made with Japanese whisky and a “secret syrup” that I detected vanilla and yuzu in, delivered to my table in a smoke-filled glass dome. It was superb.

I chose not to take a picture and to just be with the experience. Worth it.

I have been given two scarves, for I am now A Man Of A Certain Age and must therefore take the scarf. Today I am wearing a pendant made by the Shipibo, listening to music from Tuva and pulling out my old waistcoats, which all fit a lot better these days.

I note also that my beard has taken on vast proportions and I am very tempted to leave it that way until summer.
