Didn’t quite get my eight pages yesterday, for three reasons. A) too much physical pain to focus B) I’m writing to a strict outline and yesterday I discovered that I’ve been compressing too much in the scripting and I’m going to run out of story several pages before the end 3) I don’t like the images I’m writing, the whole thing feels flat (and not in an interesting way). The strategy here is always the same: step away from it for a day or so, think about it while not having it right in front of me, figure out new approaches to test. It’s like coming at it as an adapter – considering it pre-existing work and the job is to do a new adaptation of it. Sometimes I have to assume the role of a bad adaptation writer, the kind who thinks the work is bad and stupid and wants to throw most of it out. In this instance, I think I probably have to be the cold overseer who points out that the idiot who did this script is routinely writing fifty words of dialogue in every panel.

I have a huge list of things to do, a lot of which are hampered by the constant storms and rain. Drinking frozen watermelon juice (literally just a bunch of frozen watermelon chunks run through the blender with a little water), reading the Real Seeds sowing lists, settling into the cave.
