My office is a graveyard of old devices. This is a Nokia N810, which I think Nokia actually sent me. For those who weren’t around, Nokia used to make shedloads of weird products, like the wand-shaped voice-activated phone designed to fit in ladies’ evening purses….
OPERATIONS: I want to get around 15 pages through the machine today in rough form, expanded up from structural notes. Tonight I will finish one notebook and start two more. And I still have to print off an art dump, paste it into a large notebook my daughter’s partner handmade for me, and figure out an assemblage for it.
STATUS: Beaten awake by the cat at some ungodly hour. He’s asleep in the next room right now and I may go and smack him in the face twenty times to see how he likes it. Working through my Bandcamp queue. Woke up my Instagram account just a little bit , to see what it can bring me.

Don’t you talk to me about philosophers! I once got it into my head to be all stoical and go in for meditation. They never taught me anything, even that Marcus Aurelius. Doesn’t really do any good. He wasn’t much worse than you or I. We all have to find our own solution. If there is one, but there isn’t. And do without feelings too – how are we meant to find room for them? They don’t enter into our account of things. How would feelings help me sweep my staircase?
