The first fruit from the Christmas Pearmain apple tree. It has the snap and melt of white chocolate, soft, rich and full. I’ve never tasted one before. Always stunned at the complexity of flavours in these home-grown apple trees. Good start to the morning.
Not many apples left outside – it’s their first fruiting year and it’s been a miserable year for growing anything – but I am extremely glad I’ve gotten to taste them. If they cross-pollinate badly, I may never get to taste those exact flavours again. I got to taste them once. If that’s all I get, then, hell, it’s better than never having gotten to taste them at all.
Today’s schedule is taking a bump, as a client got in touch late last night with some emergency work. Building out part of Sunday’s newsletter with my other hand. I’ve stopped paying attention to my inbox count.
