The Kenyan Peaberry is still a bit finicky in the roaster, but it’s entirely drinkable, and I dosed my second cup with French gingerbread syrup like it’s autumn. Which it almost is, with the cloud cover and damp ground. Lunch is smoked trout with samphire, candy-stripe beetroot, tomatoes and pointed red pepper. Skipped breakfast – the mancub woke me at 8am, I went back to sleep after fifteen minutes, and then overslept, which has thrown the whole day off.

Newsletter is in the can for Sunday. I have to use this weekend to put this script in its box – since I woke late, it’s not going to be today. But late last night I cracked the plot I was looking for, for the first episode of another new series, consulted with the artist on some tools I’ll need to make the storytelling work, and tonight I’m going to sit with the notebook and rough the whole thing out. I have a pressing script commission job I need to get back into on Monday, as well as a quick consult for someone, and a longer creative consult to finish another module of, and, frankly, it’s all going to get a bit nuts from here til mid-autumn.

So of course I’ve just dropped a ton of money on supplies for making infusions. And ice creams for the rest of the summer. And now I’m wondering about ordering more green coffee beans. (Once someone’s bought you all the equipment for Xmas, it’s cheap! Ha! Bags of beans start at four quid in most places, and that’s a week’s worth of the best coffee)

Okay. Back to it.
