First rose of the year.

New rules.
OPERATIONS: Several things at once. Need to remember to print off my Kindle notes from OCEAN OF SOUND and paste them into the notebook. Clear ten minutes for meditation and breathwork. Inbox 76: I have a couple of things to follow up on, but mostly it’s just finding the 15 minutes to write follow-ups and transfer some things from inbox to whiteboards. Listening through the morning news podcasts. I have a backlog of films to watch. I need to get probably half a dozen documents out the door by end of play Friday. Plans and mad schemes are bubbling in the background. And it’s (probably past) time to sow salad leaves. It is now noon on Monday and all’s well.
READING: FUTURE DAYS: Krautrock and the Building of Modern Germany, David Stubbs (UK) (US+)
LISTENING:
I’m pulling all my Cryo Chamber records off the shelf because I need that specific soundspace for a specific project thinking.
ORBITAL:
- “My selection, perhaps unwisely for a Monday morning, was a recording of Ash Sarkar interviewing Slavoj Žižek on the occasion of his 75th birthday. The main point I took away was Žižek’s argument that it’s time for leftism to take up the mantle of moral majoritarianism, given that the right has appropriated the former leftist staples of crass invective, violent insurrection and so forth.” – Paul Graham Raven
- If You Want the Flow You Have to Let It Go
MISSION CONTROL: I can be contacted via the Cheng Caplan Company. Link in masthead to join my free newsletter. Forthcoming 2024: THE DEPARTMENT OF MIDNIGHT, DESOLATON JONES: THE BIOHZARD EDITION. 2025: THE STORMWATCH COMPENDIUM.
